Celestial Ballerina, 2016
series of five digital reflection holograms, 600 x 600 mm
Merging the worlds of technology, art and dance, Celestial Ballerina redefines the classical ballet and moves the performance off the stage and into a new digital realm. Each work offers a captivating glimpse of the emerging art form of digital holography through harnessing the power of the ballet. Briscella’s approach to art and technology is to make tangible worlds from the digital. Using the technological element of 3d scanning, she recreates moments of time and motion. The perceived imperfection of technological glitches are juxtapose with delicate patterns producing an aesthetic that highlights a digital interpretation of dynamic space.
