SPERO LUCEM, made in 2009 is a multifaceted light sculpture, a hologram, embedded between two glass panels, raised on a plinth. Dimensions: 200 x 200 x 200 cm. Spero Lucem is located in the right aisle of the Church St. Agnes in Cologne, Germany. It can be viewed from outside through a glass door.
Viewers often recognize a cross, whose appearance changes with the position of the viewer.
The title refers to the bible quotation, Job 17,12: post tenebras spero lucem – after darkness I hope for light.
Work and title were suggested by writer and Theologist Dr. Hans-Ulrich Wiese.
The implementation was supported by the Educational Department of the Archdiocese Cologne and the Parish of St. Agnes.
SPERO LUCEM was carried out in cooperation with G+B pronova, Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany.
